Reline & Refitting Dentures
Reline dentures are a type of denture maintenance procedure in which the inner surface of the denture is resurfaced with a new layer of acrylic. This is done to improve the fit of the denture in the patient's mouth, as over time the shape of the jawbone and gums can change, causing the denture to become loose or uncomfortable.
There are two types of denture relines: hard relines and soft relines. Hard relines involve adding a layer of hard, acrylic material to the denture, while soft relines involve adding a softer, more flexible material. Both relines will be done by taking a UT rate impression of your mouth and refitting the denture to your current oral tissue. Reline dentures are a great solution when your teeth are still in great shape, it can help to extend the life of the denture and improve the patient's comfort and ability to chew and speak.
